The winery

“I often get asked which wine is my favorite,to which I reply; they are like my children, you can't choose one over the other. They are all unique, individual and special in their own ways."

introduction

The story of the Beaumont family is a story where fact, fable and fantasy mix - a story where wine, food and family are always at the heart of the narrative - a story where a family full of generous and passionate people strives for it to capture the essence of happiness, be it in the basement, in the kitchen or on the stairs of a farmhouse. It is a tale that celebrates the struggles of everyday life and the memories created by generously sharing the land's spoils.

Raoul & Jayne

Chapter one

Jayne founded Beaumont Wines in 1974 with Raoul, her late husband - a free-spirited, somewhat infamous, and larger-than-life character. His love of travel, sailing, Spain and motorcycling lives on in the slate soils of Beaumont and in Raoul's range of wines.

Jayne had always made small batches of wine, so the decision to start a wine farm and business was actually born out of necessity - they needed a home to cultivate both their passion and their grapes. Their journey continued when they began making wine at what was then Compagnes Drift Farm, now renamed Beaumont.

Since then, Jayne has been cultivating vineyards, making wines and art, and devoting himself to beekeeping.
Their three children, Sebastian, Ariane and Lucien were all born and raised on the farm and so the stories that unfold during visits to the wine cellar over lunch, tastings, tractor rides and farm hikes are rich, fun and beautiful . These stories form the basis for the many traditions that have developed naturally over the years.

Chapter Two

Their three children, Sebastian, Ariane and Lucien, were all born and raised on the farm and so the stories unfolding on visits to the wine cellar over lunches, tastings, tractor rides and farm hikes are rich, fun and beautiful . These stories form the basis for the many traditions that have developed naturally over the years.

Sebastian is the eldest son and a second generation Beaumont.
Beaumonti - a man with a passion for wine, fishing and surfing. After studying viticulture and oenology, he joined the family business in 1999 and perfected his skills on the farm, initially as a winemaker alongside Raoul.

The next generation

Chapter Three

Sophie Isabella Beaumont

Nici and Sebastian's eldest daughter, Sophie, is the first of the new generation. She loves surfing like her "dads" and swims underwater like a fish. Sebastian believes that women often have a better sense of taste, keener instincts and more attention to detail when it comes to winemaking. Though she now claims to want to make delicious foods with Nici, that could change in the years to come.

Leo, Raoul Balthazar Beaumont

Sophie's younger brother Leo spends his afternoons fighting the villains of the vineyard with sword, bow and arrow. He inherited his grandmother's artistic streak, but has also mastered the fine art of tasting and spitting wine.

Henri Aart Dangerfield Beaumont

Leo's younger brother Henri has a real peasant soul. If you look for Henri, you will find him with a water skin in his hand and rubber boots on his feet. He seems to live up to his name, both in looks and in spirit.
